Punk icons The Stranglers are to play Hull as part of their 40th birthday tour.
Their musical talents and enthusiasm, infused with large doses of charisma and dark notoriety, go more than a little way to explaining why the band has survived for four decades in the music industry.
These days they have at their core original members Jean-Jacques Burnel (bass), Dave Greenfield (keyboards), Jet Black (drums) and Baz Warne (guitar), with the lead vocals shared between Warne and Burnel, the latter singing the songs he originally recorded as lead vocalist, and Warne performing the numbers originally sung by Hugh Cornwell.
In 2010 the band released a new double CD retrospective, containing at least one track from each of their 16 studio albums.
The gig, at Hull City Hall on Thursday, July 10, will also be a big night for local band Black Delta Movement, who will be the support act.The StranglersWhen & where: Thursday, July 10, from 7pm, at Hull City Hall, HullTickets:£23Visit: www.hullboxoffice.co.uk
