ANGRY Hull business owners are calling on the city council to do more to tackle the problem of fly-tipping. Mohammad Farkhradin, 38, owner of World Barbers in Spring Bank, has suffered from people leaving huge amounts of rubbish in the street behind his shop for more than four years.

Mr Farkhradin, who also lives above the premises, says he has contacted the council on many occasions to complain about the issue, but it still has not been solved.

He said: "I can't count the number of times this has happened – it's not only one day, it's every day.

"Sometimes I can't even open my back door because people leave bags of rubbish piled up."

Fellow shopkeeper Hamin Rhashed, 31, says it is becoming a serious problem.

He said: "The smell is so bad and now it's getting hotter it will get even worse."

"We all pay our taxes, I pay £500 in business taxes every month, so I don't think this should be happening. "

Mr Farkhradin and Mr Rhashed take the extra precaution of keeping their bins locked up behind a gate but this still has not stopped people from causing a mess.

Neighbour James Killingsworth, 25, has only lived at the property for five months but says he often sees people throwing rubbish over the wall into their yard behind the shops.

He said: "It's a ridiculous amount of rubbish. We keep contacting the council about it but they are ignoring us.

"It's getting to the stage where I might just have to call up a mate with a van to get the stuff moved."

Mr Farkhradin says that over the years the council has come to remove some of the rubbish, but that it quickly builds up again and he wants to find a permanent solution.

He said: "Until we find out who is doing this, it will never stop.

"We need security cameras or an enclosed area where people can't leave their rubbish."

A spokesman for the council has said there is no record of a complaint about waste at the premises but that the neighbourhood nuisance team will investigate the issue to establish whether it is council land or private land.
