Hull KR's brave effort against Huddersfield wasn't enough to seal a win as the Giants had substitute Larne Patrick to thank for a second-half brace in a 26-22 victory.
Both sides were locked at 16-16 at the break after a truly to-and-fro first half. David Hodgson gave Rovers an early lead, but Leroy Cudjoe finished a magical move created by Giants talisman Danny Brough.
Kris Welham strolled in unopposed thanks to Greg Eden's cut-out pass, however it wasn't long before the Giants levelled through Ukuma Ta'ai.
After a long delay, the video referee awarded Ade Gardner a try on his 350th appearance, before Eorl Crabtree side-stepped Eden at the other end. Travis Burns added a penalty on the half-time hooter.
In the second half, Hodgson had a try chalked off on 53 minutes for a debatable obstruction after a video ref call.
The Giants went straight up the other end, where Patrick gobbled up a wicked bounce from Brough's kick downfield to edge Huddersfield ahead.
After 67 minutes, KR were penalised for a second effort when replays suggested they should have been awarded a goal-line drop out.
A baffling penalty for interference marched the Giants downfield, and Patrick's converted second sealed the game for the visitors, even though Hodgson set up a tense final minute with his deserved second at the death.
