CURTIS Woodhouse is looking to inflict hurt on Shayne Singleton when he defends his English light-welterweight title for the first time next month.
Woodhouse, who won the belt by beating Dave Ryan in Rotherham last year, will return to the same Magna Centre venue on February 22.
Set to meet undefeated rising star Singleton, Woodhouse, who has 17 wins from 21 contests, admits his opponent is dangerous and renowned for his boxing skills.
But, determined to hold on to a belt he clawed his way up the boxing ladder to win, the 32-year-old former Hull City footballer says he'll use his aggressive style to his advantage.
"Being the English champion I am now the hunted and I am used to being the hunter," Woodhouse told the Mail.
"People want to come and take a shot at me, but I am very experienced now and I've done a lot of rounds. He has had it all his own way in his career so far.
"He's never had a gut check, he's never lost a round, he's never been in adversity before and he has a lot of questions to answer. If he thinks he's coming to have a friendly night of boxing and we will trade jabs, he's mistaken.
"I'm going to try to not only knock him out but also to hurt him too. I know I won't out box him because I'm told he was a good amateur and has good skills, but I'll get on his chest and hurt him."
