POLICE are trying to trace the owner of a rottweiler, which apparently bit another dog in Kirk Ella. A woman has told officers she was walking her dog in a wooded area close to her home in Tranby Lane when the attack happened. A Humberside Police spokesman said: "She was met by a fellow dog walker who was walking his female rottweiler dog. "The resident was concerned to begin with, so made sure with the rottweiler owner, that the dog was okay with others. "Both dog-walkers had a conversation before continuing their individual walks. "As they separated, the rottweiler is reported to have attacked the resident's dog, causing bite marks on its neck and a cut to its ear." The woman claims she repeatedly asked the man for his address, but only received the vague response, "Anlaby". After spending the night at the vets, the woman's dog made a full recovery. However, officers are still keen to talk to the rottweiler's owner. The attack is said to have happened on Wednesday, June 18. The force spokesman said: "The resident simply wants reassurance that this dog will not be within this wooded area again, so that she can continue to walk her dog without the fear of meeting this dog once again." Police have not revealed the breed of the other dog. The rottweiler's owner is described as being about 6ft tall, in his 50', of average build, with short grey hair. He was wearing a blue-and-white, striped top. Anyone with information is asked to call Kirk Ella Police Station on 01482 307213. Callers should ask for PCSO Stephen Clayton.
