TWO people have been arrested after a newborn baby girl was found dead in east Hull.
The body of the girl was found by a member of the public last night on a footpath, also used by cyclists, behind Rockford Avenue.
She is believed to be less than a week old.
A man and woman have been arrested in connection with the death and are currently in custody.
A spokesman for Humberside Police said: "Police were called by a member of the public who found the baby's body on a cycle track between Rockford Avenue and Lamorna Avenue.
"Officers attended right away and closed off the scene in order for the body to be recovered and for initial inquiries to take place.
"Following initial inquiries, a man and woman were arrested in connection with the baby's death are are currently in custody."
The body was found at 7.15pm.
