FOLLOWING news of Hull City's audacious bid for former Manchester City defender Joleon Lescott, today's papers report that Crystal Palace are ready to hijack Hull City's bid to finally seal the deal for midfielder Jake Livermore.
Following an impressive season on loan at the Tigers from Tottenham, Palace boss Tony Pulis is ready to take advantage of their reluctance to meet Spurs' valuation, report the Daily Mirror.
Pulis is ready to splash out the £6.5m asking price, and has put Livermore on a hit list that he has left with supremo Steve Parish and asked him to deliver the ambitious captures.
The Mirror say that City are shying away from the valuation, but the Eagles chief Parish is looking to spend up to £30m on new faces after beating the drop in spectacular style.
Livermore ticks a lot of boxes for Palace – and cash-conscious Parish – as he has a sell-on value because of his age.Bruce jumps to top of Southampton hitlist
DESPITE Southampton looking to nail their next manager appointment with hot-favourite Ronald Koeman, it seems as though Steve Bruce has leapfrogged the Dutchman on the shortlist.
According to The Mirror, the Tigers boss has become first choice as Pochettino's replacement with Koeman's talks said to have hit an impasse.
The Saints were already considering Bruce following an impressive season at the KC Stadium.
The 53-year-old is said to have interrupted a family holiday in Portugal to return to the city to tell Ehab Allam that he is happy in East Yorkshire and to discuss summer transfers.
Bruce is on a one-year rolling contract and owner Assem Allam has yet to open talks over a new longer deal.Ince holds talks with the Tigers?TOM Ince, son of former Manchester United legend Paul, is said to have held talks with Steve Bruce over joining Hull City.
The Daily Mail are reporting that the former Blackpool winger has turned down the chance of moving to Inter Milan and is talking to clubs in England, with Stoke also said to be keen.
Although Ince is a free agent, Blackpool believe the £1.5m loan fee Crystal Palace paid for him in January means they can demand £8m in training compensation at a tribunal.Stewart moves stalls at Elland Road?
TROUBLED times over in West Yorkshire continue, as reports claim Leeds United are exploring the possibility of cancelling former City striker Cameron Stewart's proposed move to Elland Road.
Stewart joined the Championship club from the Tigers on loan in January, with the move due to be made permanent – on a three-year contract – next month.
However, the Daily Mail understands new Leeds owner Massimo Cellino has instructed club officials to enquire about pulling out of the deal.
Cellino is said to be unconvinced by the forward, but it remains to be seen whether the paperwork in relation to Stewart's move to Leeds would allow Leeds to make such a U-turn.
But, if possible, Cellino is keen to explore the option given the deal was struck by the club's previous hierarchy.
Stewart's deal is due to turn permanent on July 1, meaning Leeds have three weeks to resolve the issue one way or another.Quinn relishing international starting roleSTEPHEN Quinn says the taste of being in the starting line-up for an international match has made him hungry for more.
The Tigers midfielder took to the field for the Republic of Ireland in last week's friendly against Costa Rica – in front of 60,000 people – but that didn't bother him.
"Yeah it was a massive moment, I was very proud to achieve that," the 28-year-old told the Irish Times.
"I have played five or six games now so it's been great for me and my family.
"I have been itching for the start and I'm grateful to the manager for giving it to me.
"I've been working hard in training and hit the bar against Italy when I probably should have scored, so getting the 80-odd minutes under my belt is a massive bonus for me."Jelavic reveals World Cup memories
WITH the much-anticipated World Cup opener between Brazil and Croatia kicking off the tournament tomorrow, Tigers frontman Nikica Jelavic has told Sky Sports about his greatest memories of the famous competition as he looks to take down the hosts.
His World Cup hero? "The Brazilian Ronaldo! He scored so many goals at the World Cup, 15, which is more than any other player. He was such a force and a lethal finisher; the all-round striker."
And who is his top tip to shine in Rio? "Hopefully my fellow Croatian, Mateo Kovacic of Inter Milan. He is a great, great talent and has a big chance to show the world what he can do. He is very creative and can be an important player for Croatia at this World Cup and beyond."

AND finally, former City boss Phil Brown is close to signing a new three-year-deal as Southend boss, according to The Sun.
Brown led the club to last season's League Two play-offs but lost out to Burton.
He has agreed in principle a contract extension that will keep him at the Shrimpers until 2017.
He told the paper: "It's virtually done – and, at a time when so many British managers are not being given a chance, it is good to see one being given some backing."
