A primary school student from North East Lincolnshire has won a competition to christen Hull's P1 powerboat. Lucy Rouse, 9, entered a competition to name the boat Hullabaloo, ahead of its Humber race in the P1 SuperStock Championship on the weekend of June 21. As part of winning the competition, the boat will visit Lucy's school and she will also have VIP tickets to the Humber race. Lucy, who attends Healing Primary School in Healing, said she felt proud to win the competition. She said: "I'm really pleased to have won. "I named the boat Hullabaloo because it has the city's name in it and it is a word which is about celebration and that is what the boat is about. "I feel really proud that it will be coming to my school." The competition was organised by Quickline Communications, which is one of the sponsors of the boat. Quickline's Lindy Anderson said there was a lot of enthusiasm from schools across the region. She said: "The idea came about after we wanted to get the children involved in something that is good for the city. "There were a lot of schools who really wanted to get involved in this competition and we had a lot of good entries. "When we rang up the three schools to tell them their students were one of the finalists, the reaction was fantastic." Oscar Sowden of Stockwell Primary School and Charlotte Evison of Walkington Primary were the other finalists.
