COACH Omar Pacha believes new keeper David Brown can take Hull Stingrays to the next level.

The 29-year-old former NHL draft has signed a two-year deal, replacing Ben Bowns who has joined rivals Cardiff.

The Canadian will also be studying on the University of Hull's MBA programme.

Pacha said: "Browny is very professional in everything he does, he looks after himself and he has a calmness about him.

"He will steal some games for us and can take us to the next level.

"I like his attitude, he has a competitive edge and he wants to make the team better. I think he can be one of the top goalies in the league.

"I am really excited to have signed Browny – he was the goalie I wanted from day one."

Brown arrives with impressive stats, having featured 139 CHL games, 75 ECHL appearances and played 25 times in the AHL.

Prior to turning pro', Brown attended the University of Notre Dame in the NCAA and enjoyed a stunning college career.

"He has had a seven-year pro' career, was drafted by Pittsburgh and has had experience of the AHL," added Pacha.

"He knows what it takes to win and he will make us a better team."

The only downside is Canadian Brown takes up one of Stingrays import slots, unlike the man he replaces in the starting role GB netminder Bowns.

However, Brown fits the bill perfectly for Pacha, who has made no secret of his desire to upgrade Rapid Solicitors Stingrays in a bid to improve on last season's eighth-place finish.
