Our daily blog with the latest news, transfer rumours and gossip about Hull City in the Premier League. I hope everyone has recovered from a breath-taking weekend for the Tigers, and today sees the start of a busy seven days for City.Lawro lauds City after Reds victory The plaudits have been flooding in following the historic Hull City win over Liverpool. And it was a nice surprise to see the usually critical Match of the Day 2 pundit and former Liverpool defender Mark Lawrenson say: "Credit where credit is due, Hull were outstanding." Savour them words, Tigers fans. Lawro continued: "Steve Bruce has got lots of honest players, who know what their limitations are. "One thing about them is when the do break forward, they pass the ball they got on to it. They have a lot of midfield players who are comfortable on the ball and it's so important. "Take nothing away from Hull but Liverpool were very poor. But Hull put them under all sorts of pressure. "Liverpool made some poor decisions as opposed to Hull who made some outstanding decisions. "Tom Huddlestone bossed the game. Everything is really, really simple to him. If you only need one touch you only take one touch. "He has this laconic, almost lazy style, but he sees the bigger picture all the time. "One of the great things about Huddlestone is he passes the ball where you want it, not where he wants to pass it. It just keeps the team ticking over. He's a big unit and he's difficult to play against." One topic which will not go away was the ongoing name-change protests, which Lawro commented: "There were protests before the game and protests after the game, but when your team plays at home, because of the importance of the Premier League, you just give them 100 percent. "With performances like that, he (Allam) might just change his mind."Magic Meyler scores against Liverpool heroes It must be sweet scoring against your childhood heroes, and that's exactly what happened for City's David Meyler when he faced Liverpool. The Irishman revealed his sweet strike against Liverpool was a moment to cherish against the club he supported as a wee nipper. "My father supported Liverpool when I was growing up and my best pal Gav, who was at the game, supports Liverpool, his Dad does and my other good friend does," said Meyler. "I've had texts off all of them saying they can't believe I've scored against them but they're all thrilled. "I supported Liverpool growing up too before I came to England so it's great."Allam could face FA charge Meanwhile, back to the topic of the name change, and Assem Allam could face an FA charge for his comments about City fans which infuriated supporters further before the Liverpool game, the Yorkshire Post say. Referring to the song, he said: "I don't mind 'City till we die'. "They can die as soon as they want, as long as they leave the club for the majority who just want to watch good football." The governing body has been made aware of the comments and is investigating. A spokesman for the FA told the paper: "We are aware of Dr Allam's comments and will be reviewing them on Monday (today)."Grimsby Mariners: Could this be the next name-change? What do you lot think about this? The Grimsby Telegraph has put the question to its readers: Should Grimsby Town be renamed Grimsby Mariners? In the wake of the ongoing row at the KC, the paper asked Grimsby fans what their opinions are of the option. Every team has a nickname - it's very rare to not have one - but what do you think? Will it cause as much debate over the waters in Lincolnshire as it has here?Szczesny says all eyes are on Tigers, not title Arsenal goalie Wojciech Szczesny insists the Gunners' players are not thinking about winning the Premier League title yet, the Daily Telegraph reports. The Poland international claims their focus is on the Wednesday fixture with the Tigers. Szczesny kept a clean sheet as Arsenal beat Cardiff City in Wales to move four points clear at the top of the table. No team in the division has conceded fewer goals than the Gunners. Despite the club's good form and increasingly-strong performances, Szczesny was at pains to play down their advantage. "I don't want to talk about the title challenge," he told the assembled Press. "I want to talk about the game on Wednesday. If we get three points against Hull City, then we'll be in a very comfortable position for you guys to talk about the title challenge." Arsenal have every right to be confident going into December in such a strong position, but a lot can change over the next month and it's a long, hard season.City topple Manchester clubs in DVLA figures And finally, Hull can be well-pleased with the end of the year. We're not just beating the big boys on the field, we're doing okay off of it too. At least that's according to the latest DVLA Auction figures that have been released. The Manchester clubs were tipped to break all records when 'MA11 CTY' and 'MA11 UTD' went up for sale six months after a Hull businessman had paid £46,520 for 'HU11 CTY'. However, the Manchester support was not all its supporters claimed it to be. 'MA11 CTY' scraped to £7,985, while an initial bid of £13,040 was all their rivals across the city had to offer. 'M417 UTD' also raised a £22,432 sale in 2003. Arsenal's 'AR53 NAL' plate sold for £58,675 in 2004, 'HU11 CTY' and 'T16 ERS' went for £46,520 and £33,067 respectively in 2013 and 2003. But the huge winner was 'A5 TON' for Villa, which sold for a staggering £104,618 in 2000. I'm still saving my pennies to buy 'W35 TMO', but my time will come.
