PROUD mum of rising star Ryan Mathie says she was disappointed his Wembley Arena performance was not aired on last night's X Factor.
Debbie Mathie, 45, together with Ryan's family and friends, were gathered on the sofa in pyjamas ready to watch the show.
But they were disappointed Ryan was not on and will now have to see if his performance is aired next week instead.
Ryan, a bin lorry mechanic for Hull City Council, Ryan tweeted from Alicante: "Hey guys, no idea what's going on. Really thought I'd be on tonight."
But Debbie says she beams with pride every time she sees her son perform.
The west Hull mum said: "I didn't go with him to Wembley, so I really wanted to see him on TV. I'll have to wait till next week now.
"Every time I hear him, it swells my heart. The pride just swells up every time I see or hear him perform.
"It means everything to him, but he isn't one for pushing himself to the front. He isn't a big-head.
"Now we are just hoping he will make it through the next stage and the next stage. We all have our fingers crossed because he deserves it, he works hard, he does all the open mic nights and he deserves to be where he is."
Ryan's love of singing started when he was learning how to speak and was encouraged by Debbie, who bought him his first karaoke machine when he was a child.
"He has loved music since being a toddler, but he really started singing when he was about five," said Debbie.
"When we all lived together at home, it was a case of 'Ryan, give it a rest'. He was constantly singing.
"I was well into Westlife, and he would take my album and learn it back to front. They were his idols, he loved them."
Ryan first wowed judges, Nicole Scherzinger, Gary Barlow, Sharon Osbourne and Louis Walsh, in the "room" audition after singing Ray LaMontagne's Jolene and playing his guitar.
But it was not just his singing that won them over, but his down-to-earth sense of humour after telling them he was from "Ull" before correcting himself and quipping: "The 'H' is silent where I'm from."
Debbie says that is typical Ryan, who has a twin brother, Gareth, and sisters, Lucy and Katie, 22, who are also twins.
She said: "Music has always been there for him but he never shows off with it. He didn't want to be the centre of attention.
"He has always been such a loving child, he has a lovely personality, a lovely nature.
"He doesn't care who's around him, he always comes and gives me a hug and a kiss and tells me he loves me. He knows who his family are, where he has come from and no matter where he goes, he will never forget that."
