CHRIS Green is adamant Hull FC will head into the play-offs in confident fashion – despite a woeful display in the 38-12 home defeat by St Helens.

The Black and Whites will get a chance to make amends at the KC on Friday night, having been given a helping hand to secure a home play-off tie.

Warrington's narrow victory over Catalan means the French side will travel to the KC for an elimination play-off clash.

Hull will have to dramatically improve on their last performance if they want to stay in the competition, but Green sees plenty of reasons to be optimistic.

He told the Mail: "We all know what we are capable of on our day. We have to pick ourselves up, work hard and look forward to Catalan.

"Against St Helens we didn't perform to anywhere near the standards we are capable of and what we have to do now is shrug that performance off and focus on the play-offs.

"We have to iron out a few errors, pick ourselves up and look forward to Catalan. The play-offs are different, we'll knuckle down and be ready for the game.

"We have to throw the ball around and defend like we can, then hopefully we'll get the result."

Despite finishing the regular season on a low, FC's plans for 2014 are coming to fruition and Hull have signed a former rugby union back. The club also expects to confirm a Polynesian forward will this week.

Who are Hull FC's mystery new signings?
