THE HORNSEA inshore rescue crew towed a catamaran which had lost its mast back to shore.
The Nystagmus, stranded a mile and a half from Hornsea in choppy seas, was tracked down by a rapid response jet ski piloted by coxswain Ashley Evans.
It was towed back to safety in the company of the crew's rescue boat, its mast trailing behind.
After he arrived on the Hornsea slipway, the catamaran's owner Graham McCullam said: "Hornsea Rescue arrived very quickly and we were towed back by the jet ski in quite difficult seas.
"Hornsea Rescue did a fantastic job and are one of the most valuable resources on this part of the coast."
Hornsea Inshore Rescue is an independent service run by volunteers.
It not part of the RNLI and depends upon funding from East Yorkshire families.
