Gedo superstar, that is what you are After the disappointment with the collapse of the Shane Long transfer, Hull City boss Steve Bruce has found renewed confidence in returning striker Gedo to grab some goals. The Egyptian started well with City after joining on loan last season but faded towards the close of the season. But Bruce reckons Gedo has what it takes to shine in the Premier League. Reported in the The Mirror, Bruce says: "This boy has got class. He is an international who has scored 17 goals in 33 games for his country, so we know all about his quality. "We needed somebody to come in and give us some extra firepower and Gedo provided that when he joined us on loan for the first time last season. "He can do that again and be a big player for us this time around. "Gedo will be able to cope with the Premier League he just oozes class." City fans may remain to be convinced. Although the 28-year-old notched five goals in 12 outings last season, a foot injury kept him out of the run-in.Is he the best relegated Premier player who wasn't signed? Ah, what could have been? You may remember a while back City were linked to Wigan playmaker Shaun Maloney. Well it seems those transfer rumours may have been true. Maloney is interviewed in the Scotsman, which picks out Hull City as the club who were closest to signing the Scotland international in close season. Midfield wizard Maloney admits transfer options were distracting in the summer but says his chairman Dave Whelan was not keen on losing his star player. He said: "I think my chairman was pretty adamant that I was going to stay and I have to respect that. I spoke to the manager at the start of the season and he pretty much relayed the same thing. I don't think I would ever act disrespectfully towards the chairman in particular to try to push anything." As for what he gets in return for his loyalty, Maloney, says the Scotsman, is not very convincing when he asked about a season in the Championship. "It's not that bad," he says. "For any player who has been linked with other clubs you can be pretty unsure of your future, but it's not that bad. You see what's written and it doesn't really affect you that much. You still play the same, train the same. If something happens, fine, if it doesn't, it's still a pretty good club I'm at." So when does the winter transfer window open again?
Hull City in some Titan company So ever wonder what American Football team most closely resembles Hull City? No neither did we. But as it's Sunday and international week, there's a report in the American section of Daily Mail online which draws comparisons between Premier League clubs and NFL outfits. And Hull City? Well the Tigers closest match is the Tennessee Titans apparently. According to the report this is down to them having changed their name from the Houston Oilers, spending a bit of cash on new signings and destined for "a mid-table finish at best".Harper says Chao to Toon Army Lastly good luck to Tigers keeper Steve Harper who has his testimonial with Newcastle United on Wednesday. Harper's 20 years of service to the Magpies, which ended in July when he joined Hull City, will be honoured by an all-star fixture against AC Milan at St James' Park. Players including Alan Shearer, Andy Cole, Les Ferdinand, Faustino Asprilla and Joey Barton are expected to join Harper in the Toon line-up. Maybe more interesting is Sunderland manager Paolo Di Canio tipped as a late addition to the Milan team. Money from the game will go to the Newcastle United Foundation, the Great North Children's Hospital and the Sir Bobby Robson Foundation.
