HULL: The University of Hull and Leeds College of Music have announced a new music partnership.
From September 1, the university will validate all degree courses at Leeds College of Music. Courses include popular music, classical, jazz and music production at undergraduate level and performance and composition at postgraduate level.
Both already have teaching and research links, and this new association aims to build on those and enhance opportunities for students.
It is part of a wider enhancement of music provision at the University of Hull with the launch of the new School of Drama, Music and Screen in time for the new academic year. As the first phase of a major investment, the development of new studio facilities are expected to be completed in September as the University concentrates facilities on the Hull campus.
The university is also looking to invest in music provision in auditoriums, theatre space and media environment.
Professor Calie Pistorius, vice-chancellor at the University of Hull, said: "We are delighted to embark on this exciting new partnership with Leeds College of Music. Together with our existing sponsorship scheme with Opera North and ongoing investment in facilities at our Hull campus, we are continuing to enhance our academic music offering. We look forward to a relationship which is beneficial to both organisations and all future music students."
NORTH HULL: A meeting of the Royal Military Police Association will take place next month.
It will take place on Wednesday, September 4, at the Humberside Police Club in Inglemire Lane at 7.30pm.
Members and ex-military police are welcome.
EAST RIDING: A bumper jumble sale is taking place to raise money for St Wilfrid's Church in Ottringham.
It will take place on Saturday, September 7, from 1.30pm at Ottringham Village Hall.
