Daily transfer rumours from the press as Hull City prepare for life in the Premier League.
Spurs seems to be the current domestic hunting ground for Steve Bruce if the latest reports are accurate.
The Sunday People says Bruce is not only targeting midfielder Tom Huddlestone but is now also pursuing Jake Livermore
Central midfielder Livermore managed to break into the first-team Spurs squad in 2011 and has made 46 appearances in the last two seasons. Prior to that he was on loan spells at no less than six Championship and League One clubs.
He's not a free scoring midfielder but more suited to a deep central or anchor role with a reputation for good passing and strong tackling. Seems an ideal fit for Bruce's requirements.
The People claims Bruce wants Livermore on a season's loan while looking at a permanent deal for Huddlestone, who most pundits writing this weekend agree was never really able to showcase the extent of his talent in a competitive Spurs team and because of a niggling knee injury.
The People also claims Bruce is looking at Watford striker Troy Deeney who banged in a hat-trick for Watford in their six - one demolition of Bournemouth yesterday. Deeney has long been linked to a KC move but whether Bruce wants to fork out £2million plus on another striker seems doubtful when he remains very focused on bolstering his midfield.
Celtic are also reported to be tracking Deeney as a replacement for former City target Gary Hooper. who, by the way, hasn't had the greatest start with new club Norwich after injuring his leg in their friendly win over Panathinaikos. The £5million man left Carrow Road on a stretcher.
Bruce himself is quoted in the Mail on Sunday saying his ideal transfer targets are players with Premier League experience. But he added: "The main thing I have learned is you need character in the dressing room - and I think I've got players here who have plenty of that."
Staying on Bruce for Crazy Twitter Talk it seems a couple of people have picked up on the suggestion that the City manager is off to France with Mr Allam's cheque book. We hinted something was afoot yesterday, seems things will become clearer tomorrow.August 10
SO did we miss something? Transfer Rumours nips out for a bacon butty and when we get back the world of Hull City has gone madder than Tony the Tiger after six bowls of Frosties.
But we hear that the storm over City's rebranding may have provided some welcome cover for Steve Bruce to make some strides in his hunt for some new midfielders.
It's no secret Bruce is trying to capture at least one new midfielder to bolster his squad and we understand he is closing in on targets in the coming days - and names not familiar to most City fans.
In the meantime, one name being bandied around the papers again is Spurs midfielder Tom Huddlestone. The Daily Mail says City are hopeful of beating Sunderland to sign Huddlestone who has also attracted interest from Fulham.
Spurs boss Andre Villas-Boas played the cultured 26-year-old 29 times last season but he is willing to sell the injury-hit midfielder, who has another two years on his contract.
Martin Jol, who signed the midfielder seven years ago for Tottenham, had also reportedly been interested in the midfielder, but Cardiff City's interest seems to have faded.
If he needs some advice on a move north he needn't look far. Huddlestone is pals with Spurs defender Michael Dawson, brother of today's Hull City testimonial legend Andy.
Seems fans of Dutch outfit FC Twente are getting used to the idea of their midfielder Willem Janssen departing for City after he was linked with a move earlier this wee - albeit it the story seemingly coming from an "intermediary" rather than direct between the clubs.
The 27-year-old Dutch midfielder was expected to play a key role for FC Twente in the coming season but according to Dutch reports, the club is now in talks with Chelsea about loaning its young attacking midfielder Ulises Davila and teaming him up with fellow Mexican Jesus Manuel Corona. Davila is seen as an ideal replacement for Janssen.
There appears no truth in the Crazy Twitter Chat that City were planning on rebranding the Dutchman William Johnson.August 9
Hull City will pay £2.2m for FC Twente midfielder Willem Janssen– on the recommendation of Steve McClaren, according the The Mirror.
Picking up on the rumours in the Dutch press that were discussed here yesterday, the report says former Twente boss McClaren has told Bruce that the 27-year-old is suited to English football and would be a huge asset in the Premier League.
Janssen, an energetic midfielder known for making strong runs, would bring Europa League experience to the KC.
Hilariously, the Mirror has also unearthed a video that shows Janssen might not be the answer to City's goal-scoring conundrum ...
The other new name in the frame is Martin Braithwaite.
The Danish international, who plays for Esbjerg, "is making a real name for himself in his homeland", according to Sky Sports.
City are said to be tracking the progress of the 22-year-old - who can play up-front or on the wing - along with Celtic and Ipswich.
A "source close to the player" told Sky: "He knows of the interest in England and Scotland, and he is excited by that - but he is trying to stay focused and not get distracted."Crazy Twitter talk: The Twitterati are a little too preoccupied for transfer rumours this morning, so here's an alternative question: "What's the daftest name for a football club?"Ben Vulliamy has come up with our favourite so far. He tweets: "Hull City Chip Spice FC works for me or Hull City Birdseye Peas FC".
