TRY-SCORING sensation Jamie Shaul staked his claim for a spot at Wembley as the young full-back crossed for two tries in Hull FC's 72-10 win over Widnes last night.
The 21-year-old looks in pole position to play in the Challenge Cup Final following Shannon McDonnell's injury, despite last night being only his third start. Taking his try tally to six already, coach Peter Gentle admitted he had done his chances no harm.
"Jamie Shaul was outstanding. At half-time all he wanted to talk about was the error he made," he said.
"For his second try he came from a long distance to collect the pass from Richard Whiting after his break. It was a great effort.
"We've still got two games before the cup final and the selection for that is not set. Everybody is auditioning."
