An author and presenter described as "the Indian Robin Hood" says he is bringing 5,000 bread rolls to help feed the people of Hull today.
Billy Babu, from the West Midlands, said he was moved to help after watching a BBC programme that highlighted the problem of high unemployment in the city.
Mr Babu says he has teamed up with Lewis Bakery of Birmingham to deliver the rolls.
He decided to bring bread rolls because it is "his favourite meal".
He added: "But I'm not bringing two fishes!"
The rolls will be on offer at the food bank at Endike Community Centre, where he is expected to be met by charity representatives.
When asked if the offer was patronising, he said if someone offered him a meal he would not think it was patronising but a nice gesture.
Mr Babu says he has carried out a number of events for charity over the years, including once being locked up in prison with Terry Waite.
He tweeted yesterday evening: "BIG day tomorrow starting at 5.30am! 5000 bread rolls for the wonderful people of Hull. I will tweet as everything develops."
Eileen Wright, who manages the food bank, told BBC Radio Humberside it was "a remarkable gesture".
"People will be astounded to think someone has taken the time and effort to do this," she added.• Do you think Hull needs charity? Comment below.More to follow.
