E YORKS: Yorkshire Wildlife Trust has been holding a number of events to celebrate National Marine Week and raise the need for better protection of the East Yorkshire coast.
The North East Big Watch Weekend took place over the weekend.
During the event, people joined in looking for passing whales and dolphins on the cliffs at Flamborough.
There was also a midnight moth and storm petrels' event on Saturday.
Joan Edwards, The Wildlife Trust's head of living seas, said: "Many people see the sea simply as a huge expanse of water, but under the surface lie habitats every bit as varied as those on land.
"These richly varied habitats support thousands of plants and animals, from sea horses to basking sharks.
"Once people know what's out there, we have no doubt that many more people will want to see our marine habitats and wildlife properly protected."
There will also be a Mud Magic event on Thursday, August 8, from noon to 2pm, at the Humber mudflats at the Spurn reserve as part of the celebrations.
HULL: A collectors' fair is being held for movie lovers in Prospect Shopping Centre.
It will feature Star Wars actor Dave Prowse, who played Darth Vader in the original films.
He will be joined by the puppeteer and sculptor behind Jabba The Hut.
The fair will be held from 10am to 4pm on Saturday, August 17.
Prospective stall-holders should call organiser Nick Andrew on 07812 859205.
E YORKS: A truck-pull will take place next month to raise money in memory of Harley Norfolk, who died from a rare brain disease.
The family of Harley, who died in October 2010, aged just 22 months, have organised the event that will see the truck being pulled through Cottingham on Saturday, August 10.
The event will take place from 3pm, starting and finishing at the Black Prince pub, and will take about an hour.
