HE STEPPED into the ring with a double heavyweight champion of the world.

And Hull FC's Lee Radford came out the victor in a thrilling clash with Riddick Bowe.

Bowe and Radford fought three two-minute rounds in a charity clash at the KC Stadium.

More than 300 people were at the venue to see the fight with the Hull FC coach and the former heavyweight champion, nicknamed Big Daddy,

Lee said: "It was a really great night with great support and we raised plenty of cash for a good cause.

"There were some great bouts on.

"Riddick Bowe is a big unit, his head nearly touched the ceiling.

"It was a great experience.

"I got the result but it's not about winning, it was about the night and the charity."

The duo were raising money for Life for a Kid charity, which is run by Dean Hoggard, who set up the contest.

He said: "It was a fantastic night, unbelievable.

"It was quite humbling really. It was an experience to see the big man there against Lee Radford.

"We had a lot of under card fights and then we had Lee Radford and Riddick Bowe come out from opposite ends.

"Bowe came out to Phil Collins's Feel It In The Air Tonight.

"He was walking along doing his shadow boxing and it was surreal.

"All the cameras in the crowd were flashing, it was like something out of a movie.

"I have never seen anything like it when he was walking to the ring.

"He got into the ring and the crowd went mad. He waved at them and the cameras went mad.

"While he was fighting with Lee, he did a few Ali shuffles, he was toying with him a bit with his arms.

"Afterwards, Riddick and his team said of all the places they had been, Hull has been the best because of the respect that he was shown.

"Other people who have been put in the ring with him have just wanted to knock his head off, but they said Lee had so much respect for him.

"Lee did well, he caught him with a few shots and then Riddick hit him with a massive shot to his kidneys. He'll be sore today.

"Riddick wasn't going full blast and Lee said it was an amazing experience."

The fight was refereed by kick- boxer Mark Elwood.

"There was a touching moment in the ring," said Dean.

"When Mark brought them together, he said he was more nervous than he had ever been and he was saying how humbled he was to referee two absolute sporting legends and he never thought he would do it."

Lee has taken part in a number of fights for the Life For a Kid charity, helping to raise thousands of pounds.

Dean said: "As soon as you ask him to do something for charity, he says yes straight away.

"He is my hero, I have got so much respect for him.

"He is so professional in everything he does.

"Everyone in the city respects him.

"Everything I ask him if he will do he just does it, no dramas."

The money raised will continue to support Jack Christmas and the extension to his house as well as towards the charity's aim of having a sport and education centre featuring a boxing gym and sensory rooms which Dean hopes to make free to use.
