As the nation celebrates the arrival of the royal baby, first-time grandfather Prince Charles and his wife Camilla have been visiting East Yorkshire today. The prince was in Burton Fleming this morning, where he met emergency service and residents who fought devastating floods earlier this year. He went on to Bridlington, where crowds congratulated him on the birth of his first grandson, and then Withernsea. Charles said he was "thrilled and very excited" about the birth of the Prince of Cambridge. And the Duchess of Cornwall described the arrival as "a wonderfully uplifting moment for the country". Despite visiting the Burton Arms pub in Burton Fleming, Charles did not wet the baby's head. But he may do so later as he was given a selection of real ales to take away from the Wold Top micro-brewery. Kate Balchin, 26, account manager at the brewery which is run by her parents, Tom and Gill Mellor, said: "He said he was looking forward to trying some. "It's a coincidence that the visit happened today, but the beers can wet the baby's head." Outside the pub, Charles met 11-week-old Hugo Tate and pronounced him "lovely". Proud mother Heather Bradley, a 29-year-old estate agent from Wansford, said: "Prince Charles said he was lovely and it was lovely to meet him." Meanwhile, Camilla sampled the catch of the day at the award-winning Fish and Chips at 149 restaurant in Bridlington. She declined a portion of scraps on her meal in favour of a slice of lemon, but said her haddock and chips was "the best thing I have eaten in a long time". The couple rounded off their tour in Withernsea this afternoon, where Charles thanked the Mail for presenting him with a congratulatory cake. We will be adding updates, pictures and video here throughout the day.• Send us your pictures by tweeting @hulldailymail, posting on our Facebook page or emailing paul.johnson@localworld.co.uk
