A CITY pupil has been praised for her first-class attitude to school after scoring a double education success.
Lilli Mortimer, 11, has had 100 per cent attendance throughout her primary school life.
The youngster is also celebrating after receiving 100 per cent in her maths SATs test.
Lilli said: "It is important to go to school. If you like school, why miss it?
"And if you want to do well, you should.
"I am really pleased. I got two shields for it.
"If I was ill, I always got ill in the holidays and I was never off school for a cold or anything. I really like school, I like seeing my friends.
"My favourite subject is maths and when I got 100 per cent, I was surprised but so happy."
Paul Browning, headteacher at Stepney Primary School in Beverley Road, where Lilli is a pupil, said she is an example to others.
He said: "We are highly delighted that Lilli has achieved two remarkable and admirable feats this year.
"Lilli has spent all her school life at Stepney.
"In the eight years with us, she has not had any time off school.
"This brilliant 100 per cent, combined with her hard work, a first-class attitude to school and parents who fully support their daughter, has helped her to achieve another great result.
"One of the key messages from this is that pupils need to have good attendance to help them achieve. The correlation between attendance, hard work, parental support and good results is borne out by Lilli.
"We look forward to seeing her having a great future."
Lilli's mum Michelle said the whole family is proud of her.
She said: "I can't even begin to say how proud we are of her.
"It is brilliant. She is proud of herself, more about her achievement in maths.
"To be honest, she is not ill often, the worst she gets is a cold, and she tends to get worse nearer the weekend, so she has never needed any time off.
"She also loves going to school.
"She has loved it at Stepney Primary School. She left on Friday to go for her transition week at her new school and there were lots of tears."
Lilli will join her older brother Jak at Endeavour School in September.
A special leavers' assembly was held in which she was presented with a shield for her 100 per cent attendance.
She also received a shield for her achievement in the maths exam.
Mrs Mortimer said: "Everyone is really proud.
"Her auntie and nana bought her a gift and card.
"It has been really nice. We are really proud and it is really nice for it to be recognised, too."
