Humberside Police have approved 86 requests from officers to have second jobs in the past year.
A report published by Her Majesty's Inspectorate of Constabulary (HMIC) today said 88 officers have applied to have second jobs since September last year.
The report, entitled Revisiting Police Relationships, examines "instances of undue influence, inappropriate contractual arrangements and other abuses of power in police relationships with the media and other parties".
It says, between September last year and May this year, the force began 72 investigations into the conduct of officers and staff in relation to the report's subjects.
Since an initial report was published last year, the force has updated its media policy and issued guidance to officers about using social media sites, such as Facebook and Twitter.
However, inspectors from HMIC found staff were not clear about the new rules. Inspectors also found two cases of "potentially inappropriate behaviour on Facebook or Twitter", which they referred back to the force.
Since the first report, the force has also created a single register of gifts and hospitality.
