Defender Paul McShane has signed a new two-year deal with Hull City, the club confirmed today.
The fans' favourite has been rewarded for an excellent campaign in 2012-13.
He had been widely expected to sign a new contract and put pen to paper as he returned to training this morning.
McShane said he was delighted to agree terms and was looking forward to testing himself in the Premier League again.
"When we got relegated from the top flight in 2010, it was always my aim to get back up there," he told the club's official website.
"Now I've got the opportunity to play up there again. I'll admit there were times when I didn't think it would happen, but we had such a great season last year and we're back up there now."
Just 12 months ago McShane, 27, was facing an uncertain future at the KC Stadium having spent the second half of the 2011-12 season on loan at Crystal Palace.
But under Steve Bruce he found his niche in a three-man central defence and a string of solid performances followed.
He sustained an ankle ligament damage playing against Nottingham Forest in March - an injury that looked to have ruled him out for the rest of the season.
However, McShane made a surprise return to the first-team for the final two games of the season - and his fairytale goal against Cardiff secured him a place in Tigers folklore.
"It's certainly been a rollercoaster ride over the last few years. Deep down I've enjoyed the majority of it," said McShane.
"It's time to prepare for the next part of it now and look forward to the new season. I'm sure the first two or three weeks will be tough but I can't wait to get into it."
