Hull KR: Craig Hall write Robins off at your peril

HULL KR winger Craig Hall says he is more than happy for people to overlook their achievements as they climb the Super League ladder.

A return of 10 points taken from a possible 12 has seen the Robins consolidate their position in the play-off places.

They go into tomorrow's meeting with Salford in sixth place, but despite being the competition's form side, the focus of most pundits remains firmly on others.

Hall, though, is happy to see the likes of Wigan, Warrington and Leeds remain the talk of the sport.

And he feels last week's win at St Helens – Rovers third success over Nathan Brown's men this season – highlighted many people's attitude towards KR this season.

"Saints came out and said that was the worst they had played. That takes the shine off us a bit, but we're not bothered about the credit we are getting, or not getting," Hall told the Mail.

"We are doing the things we know we can and we'll continue to fly under the radar. I thought we played well at Saints, considering our completion rate wasn't great.

"Our discipline was terrible with 16 penalties conceded, but our defence was good enough to back it up."

The last time Rovers played Salford, they were on the wrong end of a penalty count that was 9-2 in Salford's favour.

It helped the Reds claw back a 20-point deficit to claim a 38-34 victory, and Hall admits that was a bitter pill to swallow.

With KR now in hot form though, Hall accepts that this weekend, for the first time in a long while, KR go into the game as favourites.

"This is the first week we go in without being underdogs as we are coming off a couple of good wins and we are at home," he said.

"We need to put in the same efforts tomorrow as we did the last few weeks. We also need to knock down the number of penalties we concede.

"That Salford defeat early in the season was disappointing, but we weren't playing as we are now.

"That game has gone now and was out of our heads probably a week later. We can't look back, we're looking forward."

Given their recent run of form, all of a sudden there is plenty for Rovers to look forward to.

They have already taken more Super League points with seven games remaining than they did last year.

And barring a disaster, they should be in the play-offs, come the end of the season.

It would be the perfect send-off for Michael Dobson, Mickey Paea and Cory Paterson, who have all announced they are leaving the club at the end of the season.

And Hall has no doubts the trio will continue to perform at the highest level before heading to pastures new.

"The announcement of the departures hasn't affected us too much," Hall said.

"The players that are leaving are giving us 100 per cent each week. It's not like they don't care about the club.

"They don't want to leave right now and they want to give 100 per cent until the end of the season.

"Mickey has been brilliant ever since he said he was leaving, Michael led us around the park at St Helens and Cory won't back down."

With Dobson moving on, Hall has his sights set on replacing the skipper as the club's goal-kicker.

With 36 goals to his name already in Super League, he admits he'd like the added responsibility.

"I wouldn't mind goalkicking, and whoever replaces Michael will have a big task ahead of him.

"Dobbo practices his goal kicking a lot and I jump in every so often too.

"If someone comes in to replace Michael and isn't a recognised goal-kicker, then I'll put my hand up."

Rovers fans will hope to see Dobson converting plenty of tries tomorrow against the side second from bottom, but having beaten London 44-30 last week, Hall is warning against any complacency.

"They aren't going too well in the league but they will throw the ball around and ask questions of us," he said.

"That makes them a difficult side to play against because they will try and win whatever way they can."
