HULL: Police officers are standing guard at begging hotspots in the city.
Officers say there has been an increase in people begging in Silver Street and Whitefriargate. Police have made the issue a priority after complaints from shoppers.
A spokesman for the Myton policing team said: "Officers have identified peak times when this problem is most prevalent and are standing duty at static points to deter persons from harassing members of the public for money.
"Any persons found to be seated in doorways are spoken to with regards to the issues affecting the area and given relevant advice."
