DETECTIVES are appealing for more victims of a serial sex offender to come forward.
John Maud, 54, is starting a 20-year prison sentence after admitting 23 offences against four victims, including child rape.
The offences took place over three decades.
Maud, of 33rd Avenue, north Hull, was given a 16-year sentence and handed a further four years in prison after being identified by the judge as a highly dangerous offender.
Now, Humberside Police are urging anyone else who was abused by Maud to get in touch.
Detective Constable Samantha Crompton, from Hull's public protection team, described Maud as a "manipulative" sex offender who gained the trust of his victims' families so he could carry out the abuse.
She said: "John Maud's actions were that of a predatory sex offender who infiltrated himself into the homes of families to enable him access to children.
"He gained the trust and love of others in order to take advantage and fulfil his own sexual desires.
"It was as a result of his manipulative behaviour that his offending went unreported for such a long time.
"If it wasn't for the bravery of his victims, this man would still be posing a risk to the public now."
Maud was initially arrested in January last year after one of his victims came forward to report him to the police.
The subsequent investigation then led to the identification of more victims.
"The length of the custodial sentence Maud received reflects the severity and nature of his heinous crimes," said DC Crompton.
"I would like to praise the bravery of those who came forward and spoke to police about Maud, which enabled us to bring him to justice and stop him preying on more young women.
"What the investigation has told us is that Maud has been offending against young females for most of his adult life and I would encourage anyone who has been a victim to please come forward and contact the police."
Any victims of Maud should call police on 101.
