PETER Gentle believes new arrival Jacob Miller will get better after a 'steady' debut in the defeat at Castleford.
The scrum-half showed in patches the type of attributes that convinced Gentle he was the ideal number seven for the future.
Having been in the country less than a week and only taken part in three training sessions with his new team, Miller's display was all the more impressive.
But, eager not to put too much pressure on the 20-year-old, Gentle says the former Wests Tigers player needs time to get better.
"What people need to remember is he's not come here to score five tries a game, he's come here to play his part as a number seven in our team," he said.
"Jacob had a good week of preparation, his game was steady at Castleford but he'll improve.
"What we need is the guys in the middle to be better because if they are not doing their job it doesn't matter who we have in there."
Miller grew into the game at Cas, making a break to set up Ben Crooks' hat-trick try.
Playing on the right, Miller was part of a very young partnership which featured two 20-year-olds in himself and Crooks, as well as Tom Lineham, 21, and Joe Westerman, 23.
Gentle added: "We have a very young right edge now with Jacob coming in alongside Tom and Ben.
"It's exciting, but they need to be able to defend too as well as score points."
Following the 30-28 defeat, Gentle has hinted at changes and FC are set to be boosted by the return to training of Gareth Ellis (back), Tom Briscoe (ribs) and Danny Tickle (bicep).
Kirk Yeaman, Paul Johnson and Josh Bowden will all come back into contention after being dropped for Friday night's defeat.
