HULL: Politics has been put to one side by Hull's new civic representatives, according to city council leader Steve Brady.
Labour peer Lord Mandelson and Tory peer Baroness Bottomley were recently installed as High Steward of Hull and Sheriff of Hull respectively after the two ancient titles were revived by the Queen.
Cllr Brady described both of the veteran politicians as "people of influence".
He said: "They may not be on the same political wavelength but they are both passionate about Hull.
"They have put politics aside and are looking at every opportunity to improve opportunities for the city.
"That is what this administration is all about. It's about looking up, not looking down."
