PARENTS of youngsters at a city primary school are still waiting to hear when its headteacher will return.
Andrew Jackson, head- teacher at Wold Primary School, was temporarily replaced last month.
But parents are still in the dark as to why Hull City Council and the board of governors brought in Gail Simpson, headteacher at Wheeler Primary School, in his place.
Parents were given a short letter saying Mr Jackson was away from the school at the moment and were told he had been temporarily replaced by Mrs Simpson.
They said they were unaware why he was away and wanted answers.
Five weeks on, he is still not back in school.
Hull City Council say there is no timescale on when he will return, but say their priority remains the education of the children.
The council and the board of governors say they are determined the education of pupils will not be disrupted.
A Hull City Council spokesman said: "The headteacher of Wold Pri- mary School remains out of school for the time being.
"Mrs Simpson, the very experienced headteacher of Wheeler Primary School, remains as head of school in a temporary capacity.
"Our priority continues to be ensuring the children's education is not disrupted in any way."
Speaking after Mrs Simpson took over, one parent, who did not wish to be named, said: "Parents want to know what is going on.
"We don't have a clue."
The 500-place primary school is currently in special measures after a damning Ofsted report.
Inspectors criticised teaching as well as results in core subjects at the school.
The governing body was disbanded and an Interim Executive Board was put in place to help run the school.
