SHE may be small in stature, but there is no doubting nine-year-old Louisa Charlton's big heart.
The South Cave Primary School pupil has organised and taken part in numerous fundraising activities to raise money for The Children's Hospital in Sheffield, where she was treated for borderline low growth hormone.
Despite recently being given the all-clear, Louisa is continuing with her fundraising and has decided to raise money for Cancer Research UK after losing a family friend to the disease.
Louisa's mum, Caroline, has nominated her daughter in the Inspiring Youngster category in the Hull Daily Mail's Pride of East Yorkshire Awards.
She said: "Louisa wanted to get the message across to other children that, just because she is very short for her age, it doesn't mean she can't do things that other children can, as she has experienced bullying and name-calling for being the size she is.
"She is a very special girl and has inspired other children in her school to raise money. Just don't call her cute."
Measuring under 4ft tall, what Louisa lacks in height, she makes up for in confidence and determination, after speaking live on air to Radio 2 DJ Chris Evans about her fundraising projects.
After raising £165 from a bun sale, she plans to take part in Race for Life in Hull, a charity bike ride and the Sky Ride challenge around Hull city centre.
The Inspiring Youngster Award is sponsored by The Deep and Hull Children's University.
Colin Brown, chief executive at The Deep, said: "We are delighted to be one of the sponsors of the Pride of East Yorkshire Awards, recognising some of the remarkable work done by people in our local community.
"The Inspiring Youngster Award was a perfect fit for us, not only because we are committed to educating young people in our region on the world's oceans, but also because we hope to inspire them as well.
"Often, people don't realise the wealth of conservation schemes The Deep is involved in, both here in the UK and across the globe, and we hope that local youngsters will see this and want to get involved.
"Our purpose-built learning centre welcomes thousands of children each month and we often see children who stand out in terms of involvement and achievement, so it's great to see an awards scheme like this that will recognise their commitment."
