TRIBUTES have been paid to a father-of-two who died when he crashed his car crashed into a tree.

Craig Paul Moore, 34, died from severe head injuries after crashing his silver Renault Twingo into a tree on the A645 near Rawcliffe, Goole, on January 11.

An inquest into Mr Moore's death yesterday heard he had alcohol and drugs in his system.

The hearing was told how the pipe-fitter had finished his shift at Drax Power Station just before 5pm and had joined four of his work colleagues for a drink at the nearby social club, before leaving to return home.

Witnesses Pawel Andrzej Los and Irina Nastjuka were travelling in separate vehicles on the A645 to Goole and recalled being overtaken by Mr Moore.

Although there was no oncoming traffic, both witnesses told the inquest how the vehicle seemed to swerve suddenly to the left, crashing into the trees at the side of the road.

Emergency services were called but Mr Moore was pronounced dead at the scene.

Toxicology reports showed Mr Moore's alcohol levels were just below the legal drink-driving limit, however traces of cannabis and morphine were also found in his system.

Collision investigator Ian Charlton told the inquest that Mr Moore lost control of his vehicle due to the level of drugs and alcohol mixed in his system which had a "detrimental impact" on his judgment.

Mr Charlton also believed the 34-year-old was travelling at an excessive speed.

Following the inquest, Mr Moore's partner of 13 years, Cheryl Fueloep, said he was a brilliant dad to Millie, nine months, and Zach, ten.

"He provided for us all," she said. "We miss him every day."

Mr Moore's mother, Margaret, said: "He was a really good son. He was funny and always had a smile on his face and loved to wear bright colours."

Assistant deputy coroner Rosemary Baxter recorded a verdict of accidental death.

The Moore family said they would like to thank all those who stopped to help following the accident.

His sister, Amy, said: "He was loved by us all so much. He was a fantastic brother and is missed."
