HULL: Youngsters from a city school are to take part in National Healthy Eating Week with a Dragons' Den-style competition.
Pupils from Winifred Holtby School, in Midmere Avenue, Bransholme, will tackle the subject next week.
Anita Hoy, learning links worker at the school, said: "As well as promoting a healthier lifestyle among our students, the week is also designed to allow students to develop their personal learning and thinking skills, which are so vital in today's tough economical climate.
"Each tutor group in Year 7 will compete against each other to produce a healthy lifestyle presentation based on the information they have gathered throughout the week.
"The presentations will be judged by representatives from various external agencies in a Dragons' Den-style event at the end of the week. The winning presentation will be sent out to our partner primary schools."
The project is aimed at developing students' independence and ability to manage their own learning as well as be creative and work effectively together in teams.
Mrs Hoy said: "We aim for this week to truly reflect our post-modern 21st century world, where the boundaries between each subject area become intertwined, dealing with the issue of healthy lifestyle.
"We believe that this will help to broaden and deepen our students' learning as well as enhance our academy-wide collaborative ethos."
