Hull City have today confirmed the permanent signing of George Boyd from Peterborough United. Boyd, who joined the Tigers on loan in February, has signed a two-year deal. The 27-year-old forward scored four times as he played a key role in City's promotion drive. He made an instant impact, scoring twice on his home debut against Birmingham City before grabbing a crucial winner with a clinical strike at Huddersfield Town. His stellar form saw him win the Championship's Player of the Month award for March and a first full cap for Scotland. Boyd was lauded by Steve Bruce who called him arguably his best signing. A permanent contract has been on the table since February and despite alleged interest from Celtic, Boyd was always likely to rubber-stamp his move to the KC Stadium. He signs on a free transfer after City paid a £200,000 loan fee in February. Today's confirmation completes Boyd's journey from non-league to the top-flight. Seven years ago, he was playing for Stevenage in the Conference. He signed for Peterborough in 2007 and went on to make over 250 appearances before his loan move to the KC. But he might not have signed for City at all. A move to Nottingham Forest fell through on a failed eye test - a blunder that may go down in legend if the 'White Pele' can live up to his nickname in the Premier League.Have you seen our new sport section?Bookmark hulldailymail.co.uk/sport for the very best and exclusive local content.
