A MAN suspected of a serious assault at an east Hull pub has been named by Mail readers.

Police received several calls from the public after an image of the man was featured in the last Caught on Camera appeal.

He is suspected of punching the victim to the ground after an argument inside The Crown pub, in Holderness Road, last month.

The victim was left with serious injuries after falling to the floor and spent more than ten days in hospital.

Detective Constable Justin Marrow, of the city's priority crime team, said: "We would like to thank Mail readers for their help in naming this suspect.

"This was a serious assault, which left the victim with serious injuries requiring a lengthy stay in hospital.

"Officers investigating the assault are now hoping to speak to the male to progress their inquiries."

Four of the other suspects featured in the latest appeal have also been identified.

A man suspected of stealing a wallet from Hull Central Library in Albion Street, city centre, was named by a Mail reader.

Police also received the names of two women who were wanted in connection with theft of a bag of shopping from Wilkinson, in the Prospect Centre, city centre.

A woman who was wanted after a bag of shopping was stolen from the self-service checkout at Asda at Kingswood Retail Park handed herself into police after seeing her picture in the Mail.

Officers are still hoping to identify a further four suspects who were included in the appeal.

DC Marrow said: "We have had some good results from the latest appeal, but I am still hopeful some readers will be able to give us the names of the remaining suspects.

"I would ask Mail readers to take another look at the pictures and get in touch with us if they recognise any of the suspects."
