Archie Wright, 10, is a Year 5 pupil at St Andrew's Primary, Hull
Here he reviews Gorgoeus George and The Giant Geriatric Generator
Gorgeous George and The Giant Geriatric Generator, by Stuart Reid and illustrated by Calvin Innes, is a book about a young boy called George who gets detention following a minor misdemeanour on a school trip. As punishment he has to hang teabags! During detention he discovers a cupboard full of false teeth, a shelf of canes and a mysterious tunnel that leads to a funny adventure.
My favourite part of the story is the big bag of poo prank because it results in a couple of hilarious mishaps. They made me laugh out loud. The pictures in the book were also funny and helped me to further imagine what was happening in the story.
Of all the characters Alison Lansbury is my favourite as she is a curious, adventurous and fun loving girl, she is also George's best and only friend, unlike Mr and Mrs Watt who are the meanest characters in the story and do not like George at all! In fact, they have set him up to do their dirty work.
As much as I would like to tell you more of what happens, I would recommend that if you like comedy and adventure you buy the book and find out for yourself.
Happy reading!
