AWARDS: An East Yorkshire businesswoman has been nominated for a top regional business accolade.

Katie Taylor, who owns and runs Drewton's Farm Shop near South Cave, has been shortlisted in the business category of this year's Yorkshire Women of Achievement Awards.

"I was a little shocked but absolutely delighted to hear I'd been nominated," she said.

"There are some truly inspirational women working in a variety of fields here in Yorkshire and I feel very honoured to be in such esteemed company."

Katie's nomination comes after Drewton's Farm Shop was recognised for the quality of products and services on offer.

The awards are organised by the Sue Ryder charity to recognise and celebrate the achievements of Yorkshire's most amazing women.

The winners will be announced during an awards lunch at the Royal Armouries in Leeds on Friday, June 7.

EAST YORKS: Two East Riding men are planning to cycle 460km from Greenwich to Paris as part of a fundraising event organised by and in aid of Leukaemia and Lymphoma Research (LLR).

Ian Dalton, of Holme-on-Spalding Moor, and Dave Watson, of Eastrington, will set off on Thursday, June 6.

London to Paris is a four-day endurance ride covering a range of terrains and conditions.

Mr Dalton said: "LLR is the only UK charity dedicated to improving the lives of patients with all types of blood cancer, including leukaemia, lymphoma and myeloma."

Mr Watson said: "We are aiming to raise more than £2,000 for LLR and as we have personally paid for all our expenses every penny we raise will go to the charity. Most of us know someone affected by cancer and LLR is making positive progress towards defeating it."

EAST YORKS: An art exhibition that features pieces using remnants of the old Three Brothers fishing coble will run at a Bridlington gallery for the rest of this week.

Gallery 49, in Market Place, Old Town, will hold the exhibition until Saturday, displaying local artists' work.

Three Brothers is a 100-year-old coble that has recently been refurbished by boat builders John Clarkson and Joe Gelsthorpe with funding from the Bridlington Harbour Coble Preservation Society.
