HULL: Plans to build a new bandstand in one of the city's most popular visitor attractions have been given the go-ahead.
Earmarked for a grassed area in East Park, the proposed design of the structure will mirror a Victorian style and will be constructed in steel and wood with a concrete base.
Once completed, the concert bandstand will be large enough to accommodate up to 30 musicians at any one time.
HULL: The city's Lord Mayor, Councillor Danny Brown, will bring his civic year to a close tomorrow with a final afternoon tea dance in aid of his chosen charities.
Mixed, social and sequence dancing starts at 1.15pm at the Guildhall, Alfred Gelder Street, city centre, and runs until 4pm. Admission is £2 and is payable on the door.
Cllr Brown's successor, Councillor Nadine Fudge, will be officially installed as Lord Mayor on Thursday.
Care portfolio expands
HULL: City Health Care Partnership CIC (CHCP CIC) has become the shareholder of Brocklehurst Chemist Ltd.
Brocklehurst has been providing community pharmacy services in Hull since the 1930s and has three branches in west Hull in Willerby Road, Hotham Road and Wold Road.
These branches will continue to trade as Brocklehurst Chemist and previous directors Tim Burrows and Hilary Edmondson will continue to work for them as pharmacists.
Tim Burrows said: "We look forward to continuing to develop and deliver a range of quality community pharmacy services for the local population."
CHCP CIC now runs five community pharmacies across Hull, including stores at Victoria Dock and Goodwin Parade in Walker Street.
HULL: The next Hull and East Riding Arthritis Care meeting is being held tomorrow.
