A teenage girl is facing ten weeks in isolation at school after getting her nose pierced.
Shine Morth-Wallace, 14, has been threatened with isolation until the summer holidays for breaching Hessle High School's ban on nose piercing.
But her mother Kelly Wallace, 37, says she will continue to allow Shine to wear the piercing so she doesn't have to be in her "disruptive and out-of-control class".
Mum-of-three Kelly said: "I don't feel she's missing out on her education because she is learning more in isolation than she did in class."
Executive headteacher Sarah Young said Shine had improved "considerably" as a result of learning in a classroom environment.
She said: "In less than a year, Shine has gone up 16 months in her reading ability and four months in her spelling ability.
"This is a reflection of the school's quality of teaching.
"When Shine is in isolation, she is missing out on collaborative and communicative learning."To read the full story and watch video, click through to the article on our new site hulldailymail.co.uk
