IT may not be the happiest hunting ground for the Black and Whites, but Paul Johnson insists a trip to Warrington is no different to any other for Hull FC.
This week at training, he says, has been no different to any other.
Warrington have not dominated Hull's thoughts, and it has been last week's win over Wakefield that has been the focus.
The method is simple. Take each week as it comes, look to build on your positives, and learn and not repeat your mistakes.
It's a philosophy which appears to be working at the KC Stadium, with four wins in five league games lifting them to sixth in the Super League ladder.
And Johnson sees no reason why that climb shouldn't continue at the Halliwell Jones Stadium tonight.
"There's no fear at all because we are confident we can beat anybody," the 25-year-old prop told the Mail.
"It is a big challenge for us because they are a top team so we will have to be on top of our game, but we consider every game a big one, that's the way we approach it week to week.
"We prepare the same for every game. It has been the same this week. We just talk about each game as it comes.
"We look at the negatives and the positives for our last game and look to build on our last performance the next week."
Building and improving on their excellent defensive display in a 24-6 Challenge Cup win over Wakefield last week is the key message Johnson has taken from training this week.
Facing a Warrington side which has posted more than 100 points in its last three games, and now has leader Lee Briers back in the side, that is understandable.
Johnson is keen to see Hull stay with their hosts early on, frustrate them, and then hopefully claim a significant scalp as they look to build on their recent momentum.
"If you get your defence right, you have got a good chance of winning games. We have been doing that and hopefully we can carry it on," he said.
"Warrington do play off the cuff and they like to off-load, so it is going to be a tough task for us to handle that.
"But Wakefield are a very good attacking team, and keeping them to just six points shows that we handled them well.
"What we have to do at Warrington is start well and then stick with them throughout the game.
"You can't give them a head start these top teams because if you do that it is hard to get back into the contest."
Hull's recent form has seen them get right back into the race for a top-four finish, following a slow start to the season.
Johnson admits he was disappointed with the club's start to the campaign, but says momentum has been built as the playing unit has become closer.
"We have got better as the year has progressed and the more we have played with each other and got to know one another. That has made it a lot better," he added.
"We didn't start the season as well as we wanted to, but gradually we have got better. It is coming to the back end of the season now, so hopefully we can take that through in the league and the cup as well.
"Obviously, we want to be up there. We have had some good wins lately and hopefully we can keep improving and keep climbing the ladder.
"Beating Warrington would be another lift, but you take confidence from any win and you can see that in our side at the minute.
"Because we are winning and playing pretty well, we have a lot of confidence. I'd like to think that the way we are playing that not many teams will like facing us, including Warrington."
