'No-hopers' Hull KR can play without fear against Wigan, says Sandercock

HULL KR coach Craig Sandercock says his side can play free of pressure against Wigan tomorrow – as everyone has written them off before they start.

Given the Warriors' recent 84-6 mauling of his side in the league, the KR coach accepts that few, if any, outside the camp feel they can progress to the Challenge Cup quarter-finals.

But he is hoping that helps his players find their best form, and this time do themselves proud.

"In terms of the media and everyone else, they expect Wigan to win easily," Sandercock admitted.

"If you look at the team-sheets, of course it's a mismatch, but the wonderful thing about rugby league is that games are not played on paper.

"We have home advantage and hopefully our supporters will turn up in huge numbers and support the boys."

Sandercock hopes to have Cory Paterson, Greg Eden and captain Michael Dobson all fit to face the Warriors.

Paterson and Eden missed last weekend's 32-24 defeat at Castleford, while Dobson finished the game with strapping on an eye injury which has forced him to miss training for most of this week.

Against Castleford, Rovers once again offered up an inconsistent performance due to their own generosity, conceding 11 of the 14 penalties.

Sandercock knows such indiscipline will give his side no chance tomorrow, and he insists his men will have to improve in that area.

"We'll make sure we go about our business and not beat ourselves," Sandercock said.

"We have to make sure that if Wigan win, they earn it rather than presenting it to them.

"Definitely at Castleford that was the case, and I expect the boys to play to the best of their ability.

"It's about playing to your ability and not gifting other teams possession."
