AHMED Elmohamady has indicated his desire to join Hull City on their Premier League adventure next season, but admits his future beyond this summer remains uncertain.
The Egyptian international has enjoyed a magnificent campaign on loan from Sunderland and signed off on the perfect note when helping the Tigers clinch automatic promotion out of the Championship.
Steve Bruce has now begun planning for a top-flight return in August and high on his wish-list will be a permanent transfer for Elmohamady.
Although a clause exists in the original loan deal giving City an option to buy, Sunderland boss Paolo Di Canio will ultimately have the final say on the player's future this summer.
Elmohamady still has another year to run on his Black Cats deal and although he craves a return to the KC Stadium, the right-sided winger accepts he must be patient before learning his future.
"I don't know what will happen yet," Elmohamady told the Mail.
"It has been a long season and I will go on holiday. I have never had a season where I have played so many games for my club and the national team.
"Now I'll relax and see what happens.
"I would like to be here with these players, these fans and especially this manager, but we must wait and see."
The final act of Elmohamady's loan deal was to help the Tigers enjoy a captivating final day of the season at the weekend.
A 2-2 draw at home to Cardiff was enough to confirm City's promotion after third-placed Watford lost 2-1 against Leeds United.
Bruce needed just 11 months in charge to deliver one of the club's finest hours and Elmohamady believes their success owes everything to Bruce.
"He is a great personality and a great manager," he said.
"He brought me from Egypt to England and he has taught me a lot in training.
"Then he brought me here and it has been a great year for us all.
"The manager deserves this. He has worked hard for the club and he is a great man."
Elmohamady, who missed just five games in City's groundbreaking Championship season, added: "It is absolutely fantastic to win promotion. We worked hard all season and we deserve to up.
"We had to wait for the other result (at Watford) but God gave it to us and it's brilliant. It was absolutely fantastic to be a part of this, everyone was happy and everyone was smiling."
As well as 12 players who will see their contracts end next month, Elmohamady is one of five loan players at the KC Stadium.
While he and goalkeeper David Stockdale, loaned from Fulham, will be pursued, it is still unclear if Bruce will persist in signing Al-Ahly pair Gedo and Ahmed Fathi.
George Boyd, currently on loan from Peterborough, will formally become a City player as a free agent in July with a two-year deal already in place.
