IT MIGHT not look perfect but this home could be the best buy in the country.
With two bedrooms, easy parking and outside space, it is a great prospect for any small family looking to rent an affordable home.
The price tag was even better news, with the gavel falling at £15,000 at auction.
Estate agent Andy Whitaker puts the sale down to a strong buyers' market where there are bargains to be had.
He said: "It's not totally unusual. From a landlord's point of view, it's a good place to buy.
"It was the lowest in that particular auction.
"It's a two-bed terrace property that needs modernisation."
His company, Whitakers Estate Agents, sold the house at an auction at the Village Hotel in Hessle.
There were dozens of houses going from across East Yorkshire, worth about £2.5m in total.
The most expensive sale was £135,000 for a house in York.
Mr Whitaker said: "There were properties as far away as Bridlington and quite a few from Goole, Beverley and Hull.
"The £15,000 house was probably bought by a landlord who is going to do it up.
"Returns are quite good, particularly if you buy at that sort of price – other properties have sold for between £40,000 and £50,000 in that particular area."
Despite a cloud still hanging over the national property market, Mr Whitaker believes things are picking up in Hull.
He said it was a great time to get on the housing ladder.
Mr Whitaker said: "We've sold all our properties at the past four auctions. We've noticed quite a big upturn.Confidence is coming back and banks are starting to ease up.
"It's particularly a good time to buy before interest rates or prices rise."
The £15,000 house is in Lois Crescent, off Boulevard in west Hull.
Its price is even lower than a property in Doris Vale off Aylesford Street, which was one of the five cheapest homes in England in 2011.
The sale for the Lois Crescent house was held by Iamsold.
Almost nine out of ten properties they offer are bought by bidders.
Senior auction co-ordinator Fran Bradley said: "Starting with £5,000 attracts the maximum interest we can possibly get.
"We get really good numbers and very full auction rooms.
"It sold for a fair price for what you see properties going for down that street."
It is not just landlords who buy at auction.
Every sort of person has passed through Iamsold's doors.
Ms Bradley said: "We have every type of buyer at our auctions.
"There's mortgage buyers, first-time buyers and cash buyers.
"People come sometimes just to spectate, to see what it's all about for the next auction."
Part of the attraction is a quick turnaround. Ms Bradley said: "It's an average sale time of six weeks.
"We can achieve a fair price and we've got very quick time scales for completion instead of it dragging."
