Plans to give one of Hull's best known social clubs a new lease of life have been given the go-ahead by city councillors.

Time was called on the former Dee Street Club in west Hull two years ago when it finally closed.

Now proposals to convert two neighbouring houses which once formed part of the club into four apartments have been approved by Hull City Council's planning committee.

Some councillors voiced concerns over potential car parking problems in the street if extra flats were added to an existing conversion scheme at the club which is already under way, changing the old entertainment venue into eight apartments.

But the committee voted in favour of the latest facelift subject to a number of conditions being met by developers Sonar Products.
