A FATHER told a 999 operator he'd murdered his son for teasing him about his age.
Stephen Hall, 52, stabbed his son Keith McGlone to death with a kitchen knife.
Today, the Mail can reveal details of the desperate 999 call made by Hall as he admitted stabbing his son twice after a row at the home they shared in west Hull.
During his call to the emergency services, Hall said: "I don't know if he's alive or dead. I think he's dead.
"I said summat and he argued with me and then, all of a sudden, I just flipped.
"I was sick of him always picking on me and calling me an old man and everything."
Hall is due to appear at Hull Crown Court today to be sentenced for murdering his son on January 21.
The court has already heard the pair had argued after sharing a drink at the pub. Hall grabbed a knife and stabbed his son twice before calling the emergency services to confess to stabbing him.
Neighbours had seen him walking around outside the house, carrying the knife, and he told 999 operator Louise Robinson he had placed it in the sink after the stabbing.
Ms Robinson kept Hall on the phone until the police arrived at the house in Catherine Grove, off Anlaby Road.
His full confession to her led to Hall pleading guilty at Hull Crown Court to his son's murder by stabbing him twice to the abdomen and chest.
While the police operator kept him on the line, police officers and paramedics rushed to the house.
Despite attempts to save his life, Mr McGlone was already dead. Hall was arrested for his son's murder and has been in custody ever since.
The court heard that Hall had been on anti-depressants for 18 years and is now facing a life sentence for murder.
Mr McGlone, himself a father to two young boys, was known as "Shorty" to his friends and had moved back in with his father.
Detective Chief Inspector Alistair McFarlane, senior investigating officer, said: "This is a tragic event, which has led to the needless death of a young man.
"The family are not only having to cope with the loss of Keith in such violent and unnecessary manner, but also with the fact that it was at the hands of his father."
One friend, Karen Stewart, 52, told the Mail after his death: "I have known Shorty his whole life.
"Everyone who knew him is devastated by what has happened.
"He was a devoted dad. He loved his two kids."
