PETER Gentle hailed Hull FC's convincing 62-6 Challenge Cup win against North Wales Crusaders as a terrific experience for his young side.
Missing a raft of senior players through injury, Hull handed a debut to Jack Briscoe, while James Cunningham and Jamie Shaul played only their second games.
Cunningham, Shaul and Tom Lineham, who also made his first appearance in the cup, scored five of Hull's 12 tries as they eased past their Championship One opponents.
And, regardless of the opposition, Gentle says Hull's youthful line-up will be stronger for the experience ahead of a last-16 tie in three weeks.
"The biggest thing we got out of the game was the amount of game time we were able to put into the young blokes, it was a good exercise for us," explained the Aussie coach.
"It is great experience for those young guys and it doesn't matter who it is against.
"We'll hope for a home draw, but we'll take what we are given."
Hull will today find out their next opponents and know they'll have to raise their game after initially stuttering against the Welsh side.
"We were guilty of losing concentration a few times, but we got the win and that is what matters regardless of the score," added Gentle.
"Our second half was better than our first. We were guilty of panicking a little in the first half and we lacked patience. We started the game with errors again, which we cannot afford to do, and we need to eradicate that.
"It is hard in these games to keep your concentration levels up. We benefited from a lot of penalties and it was a bit disjointed.
"There was a little bit of frustration from us, but we have come through relatively unscathed, so we are satisfied."
