Hull FC cruised into the fifth round of the Challenge Cup with a 62-6 victory against North Wales Crusaders at the KC Stadium.

The Super League outfit had no trouble against their Championship One opponents, running in 12 tries including hat-tricks for Jamie Shaul and Kirk Yeaman.

The Crusaders started the game brightly, forcing an early drop-out and managing to hold Hull's attack out thanks to the energy and enthusiasm of their defence. They couldn't stop Richard Horne, however, and when the stand-off spotted a gap he raced from 10 metres out to force his way over the try line for the opening score of the game.

Horne's try opened was the first of three scores for Hull in 10 minutes. Joe Westerman juggled Aaron Heremaia's pass as he crashed over the try line, before Ben Crooks pounced on Horne's grubber kick to give Hull  16-0 lead.

The Crusaders sent for burly forward Jono Smith from the bench and steadied the ship as they began to be more physical. The result was their best period of the game and they earned a deserved try when centre Christiaan Roets got the better of Kirk Yeaman on the outside to score.

Yeaman had swift revenge, forcing his way over soon after for Hull's fourth try of the game and then hitting the Crusaders on the stroke of half-time with his second.

A lacklustre start to the second-half from Hull saw the standard and intensity drop, but there were further points thanks to Tom Lineham finishing a sweeping move out wide and James Cunningham diving over from dummy-half.

With the clock ticking down Hull then added further points as Jamie Shaul grabbed a quick-fire double. First the full-back finished off a Yeaman break to push Hull past the 40 point mark, then he scored arguably the try of the game racing across the Crusaders defensive line before arching his run 30 metres out to score.

The Crusaders couldn't keep up with the pace of the game, allowing Horne to get his second, Shaul to grab his hat-trick try with another score from distanc,e and in the dying seconds Yeaman to complete his hat-trick.
