TWO East Yorkshire brothers have topped the region's rich list.
Billionaires Malcolm and Eddie Healey have once again come first in the Yorkshire region and 48th overall in The Sunday Times Rich List.
The pair are said to be worth £1.5 billion after building Sheffield's Meadowhall shopping centre and Hygena Kitchens empires.
Also in the list is Assem Allam and his family, who are collectively said to be worth £317m – a considerable drop from last year, when the Rich List said they were worth £417m. The Mail has previously revealed the Allams have invested around £66million in Hull City since taking over two years ago.
Philip Beresford, who compiled the list, said: "The Healeys are the perfect example of two brothers who both went their separate ways in business but were both very successful.
"Not many brothers have done that.
"I don't know if it is a bit of sibling rivalry, but it is pretty good going."
Eddie, who turns 75 tomorrow, turned a derelict site in Sheffield into the Meadowhall shopping centre.
It was later sold for £1.17bn, reportedly netting him £420m.
Eddie's brother Malcolm, 68, built and sold the Hygena Kitchens business, earning him £200m in 1987.
He went to America and repeated the process, selling it for £800m.
The Healey brothers first topped the rich list for Yorkshire in 2011 and have remained there ever since.
Mr Beresford said: "It isn't unheard of for someone to remain top for several years.
"I don't think someone will be challenging them anytime soon."
Meanwhile Tigers tycoon Assem and his family have been ranked 11th in Yorkshire and 273rd overall.
The family bought Hull City for £50m in 2010.
Egypt-born Assem, 73, runs Allam Marine – a Hull-based manufacturer and supplier of industrial and marine generators – which made £22.6m profit in 2011.
But the report suggested the company had a tougher trading year in 2012.
Mr Beresford said: "Their business is in the exports market which has been suffering, so their wealth has gone from £417m to £317m in the last year.
"I fully expect them to bounce back though, if the world's economy picks up.
"We need more people like them – businesses like this mean much-needed jobs in Hull."
Just six months ago Allam Marine opened a new £4.5 million complex at Melton West Business Park enabling the firm to double its generator manufacturing capacity and increase warehousing and distribution space by a third.
And the family have spoken of their confidence at the long term pospects for their successful business.
Mr Beresford says the future of Hull City football club may also have a strong influence on the family's fortunes.
He added: "Let's hope that the fall in their fortune will be off-set by promotion for the Tigers."
The Sunday Times Rich List is now in its 25th year.
At the top of the board was Russian tycoon Alisher Usmanov.
According to the special Rich List supplement published yesterday, he has seen his fortune rise by just short of £1bn in the past year to £13.3bn.
Mr Usmanov has homes in London and a 29 per cent holding in Arsenal football club.
