THE Tigers are in a comfortable position in the promotion race and that's a good thing given the lack of goals coming from the strikers.
If City were in Watford's position right now I'd fear for them and rate their chances less than I do the Hornets.
The guys up front are not looking like they have plenty of goals in them and perhaps it is time for a change.
I'm not sure taking a gamble is the right terminology, given the fact City have their destiny in their own hands, but I can see Steve Bruce freshening things up for the arrival of Bristol City.
George Boyd arrived from Peterborough and immediately made a big impact.
He looked lively in attack, a threat in front of goal and had a few goals in him too, as his player of the month award backs up.
But Boyd has gone off the boil and maybe needs to spend a game on the bench to recharge his batteries.
Jay Simpson is another struggling and while there has been plenty of endeavour, there's not been much end product.
It is not a time to be panicking and throwing out of the window what has got them in this position.
At the same time, I would not be surprised if City do something different.
Matty Fryatt may have become the forgotten man at the KC, but tomorrow is the perfect opportunity for him to play a major role in what happens this season.
It may be seen as a risk by some to start with Fryatt against Bristol City, but is he going to contribute less in terms of a threat than Boyd has done in recent games?
I can see Fryatt getting his chance. And what price the big man Nick Proschwitz playing alongside him?
Proschwitz has failed to justify the price tag so far this year, although what City paid for him is not something he could control or probably would have asked for.
I've seen it many times before, though. Despite a disappointing season it could all be set up for Proschwitz to come in and repay a massive part of his huge signing fee by scoring the goal that could, 24 hours later, prove to be the strike that sends City into the Premier League.
Starting Fryatt and Proschwitz up front could be a gamble, but it would be an approach Bristol would not have planned for.
With Boyd and Simpson on the bench, Bruce would have options to make changes as and when he sees fit.
I believe both Boyd and Simpson are more productive coming off the bench, and it may be a little out of left field, but it could prove a winning formula.
