Egyptian football writer Shafy Mosaad reports from Cairo.
Hull City's Egyptian star Ahmed Fathi proved to Tigers fans – and English football fans - that he deserves more appreciation, after his full game debut start against Wolves.
The 28-year-old has appeared for just a few minutes for the Tigers since arriving in Hull on loan from Al-Ahly in January, before he made his first outstanding start against Wolves.
His lack of use was a cause of major concern for Egyptian fans, especially followers of Cairo's Al-Ahly, but after his great performance at Wolves, despite the 1-0 defeat, they are sure that he will quickly become one of Steve Bruce's favourites.
Before every City match Egyptians fans were going more and more frustrated when his name didn't appear in the team sheet. And there were increasing voices calling for him to return home. But now they are sure he has shown enough of his skills to stay.
Despite of Tigers defeat, Fathi showed fans what he is capable of, especially when he picked up possession 25 yards out and fired a shot just wide.
For those who don't know a lot about the player, Fathi became Egypt's youngest ever international when he was capped aged 17 years in 2001 against South Africa.
He was a member of the Egyptian youth team that won the African Youth Cup 2003 in Burkina Faso and also played a big role in the Egypt squad that won the Africa Cup of Nations 2006, 2008 and 2010.
So what does the future hold for Fathi? Well City will be the only side able to sign him – and striker Gedo - for 12 months after this season under an agreement with parent club Al-Ahly, if they are willing to sell. Egyptian fans will be happy to see one of their favourites stay in East Yorkshire – if he is allowed to show his talents more often.
